Moscow boosts machinery and equipment outputs over 1/3

Over the first seven months of this year, capital enterprises shipped goods worth more than 134 billion rubles. This is a 40.2 per cent increase YoY.

The machinery industry in the capital is ramping up production, as today it encompasses more than 260 factories employing over 11,700 specialists. With the city’s support, companies are launching new products and increasing production volumes, as announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Transport and Industry.

“Development of domestic machinery manufacturing plays a key role in the new industrialization. Today, the sector is exhibiting significant growth, made possible by the comprehensive support provided by the city at the direction of Sergei Sobyanin. Just in the first seven months of 2024, Moscow-based companies in the sector increased production by 33.7 per cent YoY. Enterprises are producing laser machines, metal-cutting and pumping installations, elevators, fuel supply system units, conveyor lines, ventilation systems, and much more,” notes Maxim Liksutov.

In particular, the capital has seen an increase in the production of machines and equipment for processing metals and other solid materials. The products manufactured in the city allow for the automation of production processes, enhancing productivity, and improving product quality. Equipment from Moscow enterprises is in high demand both domestically and internationally.

“Moscow-based machine-building companies are actively exploring new sales markets and supplying goods to neighboring countries, Southeast Asia, and North Africa. In 2023, the share of products from the sector accounted for 25 per cent of the total non-raw non-energy exports from the capital. The demand for Moscow products is continuously high, as from January to July 2024, enterprises shipped goods worth more than 134 billion rubles, which is a 40.2 per cent increase YoY,” reports Anatoly Garbuzov, Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.

Moscow boasts a well-developed manufacturing capacity, with more than 4,200 industrial companies employing over 725,000 people. with 40 to 50 medium/large enterprises and about 100 small businesses opening every year, to produce a variety of goods and drive innovations.

Companies have access to over 20 forms of support from the city. Thanks to these measures, enterprises create or modernize production, acquire new equipment, receive tax preferences or assistance in organizing exports, and improve employee qualifications. The most popular support measures include: reduced investment loans, provision of land plots at a subsidized rate of one ruble per year, and offset contracts.
