Over almost 14 years, the municipality has built or renovated 119 metro stations, including Potapovo of the Sokolnicheskaya Line, which was inaugurated by Sergei Sobyanin on September 5. Construction of four more stations of the first Troitskaya line section was completed in September, as well, as reported by Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Urban Planning Policy and Construction.

“Since 2011, the capital has completed the construction and reconstruction of 248.6 kilometers of metro lines. Work is over on the first section of the Troitskaya Line with four stations, namely, Novatorskaya with a change to the Big Circle Line, Universitet Druzhby Narodov, Generala Tyuleneva, and Tyutchevskaya. We have launched Potapovo station on the Sokolnicheskaya metro line. Active work is still underway on the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line,” says Vladimir Yefimov.

There are currently 11 stations under construction, namely, ZIL, Krymskaya, Akademicheskaya, Vavilovskaya, Kornilovskaya, Kommunarka, and Novomoskovskaya of the Troitskaya line, Bulvar Generala Karbysheva, Zvenigorodskaya, and Narodnoe Opolchenie of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line, plus Dostoyevskaya of the Circle line.

As reported by Head of the Moscow Department of Construction Rafik Zagrutdinov,19 metro stations are currently at the design stage, two more lines — Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya and Biryulyovskaya — to be ready by 2030.

Another large-scale capital project relates to the ground-level metro. To date, the authorities have introduced the first, second, third and fourth Moscow Central Diameters, which are a really large network of interconnected railway routes, with 303 kilometers of tracks and 137 stations put into operation.

“The ground metro is expanding, too; Moscow agglomeration has already got four diameters. Their popularity is growing every day, with the daily flow reaching 1.4 million passengers. And the number of trips within Moscow has increased by 3.6 times since the launch,” says Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Moscow Mayor for Transport and Industry.
