The project will help protect the environment and create new waterfront recreation areas with beaches, rental centers, convenient approaches and all the necessary infrastructure.

The Russian capital is landscaping embankments, parks and ponds. There are 78 embankments in Moscow, covering 174 kilometers of the bank line from Strogino to Kapotnya. In recent years, 42 Moskva River embankments have been reconstructed, including Moskvoretskaya, Krasnopresnenskaya, Vorobyovskaya, Bersenevskaya and Krymskaya. The city center has got picturesque and convenient walking routes, wrote  the Moscow Mayor on his blog.

“The lower reaches of the river have been dramatically changed with their uninviting, swampy and littered banks transformed into new city parks:  Brateevskaya Poyma, 850-Letiya Moskvy Park and the park on the Moskva River embankment in Kapotnya. We plan to improve and recreate 36 more embankments by 2030 as part of the  landscaping projects and the redevelopment of industrial zones on the banks of the Moskva River,” wrote Sergei Sobyanin.

The largest rehabilitation and improvement projects are reinvigorating the parks of the Bolshoy and Maly Stroginsky backwaters, Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve and Gorky Park. This will give millions of city residents and visitors new places to relax near the water.

One of the best parks will appear in the upper reaches of the Yauza River, while granite embankments in the lower reaches will be upgraded.

By 2030, a project to rehabilitate more than 130 water bodies is to be completed, which will help protect the environment and create new waterfront recreation areas in different parts of the city with beaches, rental centers, convenient approaches, driveways and all the necessary infrastructure. The project will involve the improvement of Olenyi, Golovinskie and Bekhterevskie ponds, Altufyevsky pond as well as Bitsa River ponds.
