On 7 February 1908 appointed as Moscow City Chief. Before this he had occupied a post as military judge of the St Petersburg military district tribunal. In June-July 1914 Moscow workers held strikes of solidarity with the proletariat of Baku and St Petersburg. More than ninety thousand people took part in these actions. "The strikes are of a purely political nature," A.A. Adrianov reported to the Minister of the Interior. On 11 July 1914 a state of emergency was declared in Moscow and the Moscow gubernia. For this reason the City Chief received the power of Chief Commander. Upon proceeding with the execution of his new duties he issued an order On the Transfer of Cases Concerning the Armed Uprising and Organisation of Strikes from Normal Jurisdiction to the Military District Tribunal.
In May 1915 the powers of Chief Commander were transferred to F.F. Yusupov and he returned to his previous duties as Moscow City Chief.
Adrianov offered his resignation on the request of the Minister of the Interior, N.A. Maklakov, who was of a negative opinion of his role and official actions during; the Moscow riots of 1915.
